Annapolis, MD Staff Attorney - Full Time - Anne Arundel County Family Law Self-Help Center, Annapolis, MD MCLA is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to join their team and provide brief legal advice to unrepresented litigants in civil legal matters. Salary Information: $74,575.00 - $115,112.00 annually, based on experience and qualifications Paid according to MLA's Workers Union's current salary scale Salary placements based on earliest date of admission to a U.S. state bar and continuous full-time legal work experience Job Title: Staff Attorney - Full Time Experience Required: Admitted to practice in the State of Maryland One year or more of civil litigation experience, clinical or clerkship experience will be considered Responsibilities: Provide brief legal advice and information to self-represented litigants in connection with civil legal issues Assist self-represented litigants in drafting pleadings and motions, preparing for trial, and completing court forms Conduct rapid legal research using Westlaw Provide referrals to appropriate legal service organizations, agencies, and lawyer referral services Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: Admitted to practice in the State of Maryland One year or more of civil litigation experience, clinical or clerkship experience will be considered Ability to conduct rapid legal research using Westlaw Strong customer service skills Ability to communicate complex legal concepts in simple terms Ability to travel to different offices on short notice Fluency in Spanish and American Sign Language strongly preferred Work Environment: Typically performed in a general office setting with regular telephone interaction, videoconferencing, and email Certain duties may be performed in a community setting or remotely Benefits: Competitive salary Generous benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k)-retirement plan Two weeks paid time off, sick leave, and 14 annual paid holidays Hybrid work arrangement Additional Requirements: References will be required at the time of the final interview No telephone calls, please Position will remain open until filled MCLA is committed to equity, justice, and inclusion and seeks to hire individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
