Advocate - Pro Bono CARE Court: Assisting Low-Income Communities in San Diego County

Position Summary:
- Support the Pro Bono Team Supervising Attorney and CARE staff attorney
- Assist clinic participants in East County and South County with court forms and declarations
- Provide procedural information, community referrals, and information on alternatives to CARE Act proceedings
- Coordinate remote clinic services
- Gather information from clinic participants and perform administrative tasks

Essential Functions:
- Greet and check-in clinic participants or answer phone calls
- Maintain clinic sign-in sheet and other administrative files
- Coordinate remote clinic services
- Distribute and review applications for services, conduct interviews, and assist with court forms
- Perform clerical and secretarial duties
- Update printed materials and assist with outgoing mail
- Perform data entry and clerical assistance for statistics and grant reports
- Comply with program and grant requirements
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- B.A. degree or A.A. degree with paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience
- 1 year of office experience
- Ability to communicate professionally and empathetically with clinic participants
- Ability to handle calls from people with communication barriers
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Secretarial skills and ability to work independently and in a team
- Reliable transportation

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Fluency in Spanish
- Commitment to serving low-income communities
- Ability to work with diverse backgrounds

Salary and Benefits:
- Hourly position with a pay rate of $21.98 - $30.77
- Starting pay rate of $25.28
- Bilingual pay increase for passing oral and written tests in languages other than English
