The Third Judicial District Court is seeking a highly qualified Attorney Associate (U) to join our Legal Division in Las Cruces, NM. This is a full-time, at-will position with a competitive salary range of $33.774 - $43.248 hourly OR $70,249.92 - $89,955.84‬ annually.

Responsibilities:
● Provide legal advice and perform legal research and analysis for the court or Judicial Entity.
● Review and analyze cases, briefs, records, and legal authorities cited.
● Draft opinions, orders, and decisions for judges' review and final approval.
● Keep judges updated on recent decisions, opinions, and changes to rules and statutes.
● Draft, interpret, and negotiate contracts for the court.
● Provide legal advice to Chief Judge, other Judges, Court Executive Officer, division managers, and various court committees.
● Attend trials, hearings, and meetings as necessary.
● Review proposed legislation and analyze its impact on the court.
● Manage outside litigation.
● Act as a liaison to local and state bar, litigants, agencies, and agency personnel.
● Maintain confidentiality and use discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
● Organize and prioritize workload and manage multiple projects.
● Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
● Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
● Use initiative and independent judgment with minimal supervision.
● May perform other duties as needed.

Requirements:
● Must be a graduate of a law school meeting the standards of accreditation of the American Bar Association.
● Must possess and maintain a license to practice law in the State of New Mexico.
● Must have at least three (3) years of experience in the practice of applicable law, or as a law clerk.
