The Organization:

- Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR)
- Mission: To license efficiently and regulate fairly
- Responsible for licensing and regulating businesses and professionals in the state of Florida
- Regulates industries such as cosmetology, veterinary, condominiums, hotels, and restaurants

The Position:

- Chief Ombudsman within the Office of the Ombudsman of the Division of Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes
- Acts as a liaison between condominium unit owners and association boards
- Oversees the division's election monitoring program
- Must be a Florida licensed attorney
- Reports to the Division Director
- Full-time, in-office position
- Salary range: $80,000 - $110,000 annually

Responsibilities:

- Develop policies and procedures to assist unit owners, boards of directors, and community association managers in understanding their rights and responsibilities
- Coordinate the preparation and adoption of educational and reference materials
- Encourage and facilitate voluntary meetings between parties to resolve disputes within a community association
- Act as a neutral resource for the rights and responsibilities of unit owners, associations, and board members
- Resolve disputes between unit owners and the association or between unit owners
- Monitor and review procedures and disputes concerning condominium elections or meetings
- Make recommendations for changes in rules and procedures for filing, investigation, and resolution of complaints
- Supervise and direct staff responsible for communications between parties interacting with the Condominium Ombudsman's office

Qualifications:

- Must be a Florida licensed attorney
- Experience with community outreach
- Willingness to travel regularly within the state, particularly throughout South Florida
- Experience in researching and analyzing legal issues
- Experience with public speaking
- Experience dealing with the public
- Experience supervising or overseeing a staff
- Experience in Florida condominium and property law
- Fluent in Spanish (preferred)
