Litigation Paralegal

Law Firm Seeking Experienced Litigation Paralegal in Virginia Beach Location - Competitive Salary and Comprehensive Benefits Package Offered

Are you an experienced litigation paralegal with a strong team player mentality? Do you have 5 or more years of litigation experience and an associate degree or above? If so, Kaufman & Canoles, a leading law firm in Virginia Beach, wants to hear from you!

Responsibilities:
- Draft and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Conduct research on loan files, title reports, plats, and surveys, as well as other real estate related documents
- Trace heirs and conduct genealogical investigations
- Research party identity, location, and assets
- Organize and manage case files electronically
- Create trial notebooks
- Draft deposition summaries
- Review and organize discovery documents
- Assist with service of process and issuance of summons and writs
- Edit and format briefs and memorandums
- Manage docket of deadlines and case priorities
- Handle document storage, production, and electronic discovery processes
- Communicate professionally with clients and court personnel on a daily basis
- Attend weekly meetings and provide updates on active cases
- File documents with the courts
- Keep accurate records of all communication, expenses, and case documents
- Maintain detailed and accurate daily billable hour records with a goal of billing 1550 hours per year and collecting two-and-one-half times annual compensation in client fees

Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of litigation experience
- Associate degree or above required
- Paralegal certification by an ABA approved program is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Excellent grammar and writing skills
- Knowledge and mastery of MS Office, Adobe, and Nuance
- Experience with Federal Court and State Court filings and systems preferred
- Familiarity with federal and state rules of procedure preferred
- Experience reviewing surveys, deeds, and other land instruments beneficial
- Experience with post-judgment collections processes beneficial
- Experience with case management software a plus
