Kaufman & Canoles Law Firm, a leading family law practice in Virginia Beach, is seeking a highly
qualified and experienced Paralegal to join their team. This position offers a competitive salary and

Role Responsibilities:
- Manage a "high-end" family law practice, ensuring that tasks in each case are performed by
the appropriate personnel
- Establish project schedules and milestones, and ensure all deadlines are met, including timely
filings with the Court
- Perform work independently and take responsibility for the varied tasks associated with multiple
projects
- Maintain a centralized database recording the current status of each case
- Coordinate the gathering of information, materials, documents, reports, and evidence
- Research information from various departments and sources, including subscription research
services, the Internet, and the library
- Review and summarize depositions and other legal documents
- Utilize technical information to make decisions and recommendations to the supervising attorney
- Prepare trial notebooks and organize exhibits
- Interact with clients in person, via telephone, and email
- Maintain detailed and accurate daily billable hour records with a goal to bill 1550 hours per year
to client matters and collect two-and-one-half times annual compensation in client fees

Qualifications:
- College degree in a related field or Paralegal Certificate is required
- Must possess 3 or more years of experience in family domestic law
- Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to family law practice area
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of legal terminology and legal principles generally acquired through college-level study
- Ability to perform legal research using reference materials generally available within a law library
and/or electronic resource tools
- Capable of dealing effectively with clients, attorneys, and co-workers
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and organize and prioritize workload
- Grammar and writing skills generally acquired through college-level study
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to work overtime as necessary
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word and Excel), LegalBar, and typing at a level of 50 WPM
