Akron, OH Job Title: Core Tax Services Associate - Summer 2025 (Cleveland or Akron) Salary Information: Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and location. Experience: Leadership experience preferred; Accounting based internship preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics required OR Bachelor's degree in other focus area and CPA certification required. Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred. License/Certifications: Eligible to sit for the CPA exams; progress towards admission to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction; progress towards Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or progress towards the equivalent of one of these designations) upon starting employment preferred. Location: Cleveland or Akron, Ohio Job Category: Generalist Job Schedule: Full time BDO, a leading accounting and advisory firm, is seeking a Core Tax Services Associate for the Summer of 2025 in Cleveland or Akron, Ohio. This position offers the opportunity to utilize your educational background, communication skills, and organizational abilities to assist with tax return preparation and research. As a Tax Associate, you will work with tax software applications and utilize basic research skills to complete simple tax returns for review. Key Responsibilities: • Tax Compliance: Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and ensures compliance with Firm policies and standards. • ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals: Applies Firm policies and standards regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48. • Tax Consulting: Assists with developing and implementing efficient methods to decrease clients' current and future taxes. • Other duties as required. Qualifications: • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics required OR Bachelor's degree in other focus area and CPA certification required. Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred. • Experience: Leadership experience preferred; Accounting based internship preferred. • License/Certifications: Eligible to sit for the CPA exams; progress towards admission to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction; progress towards Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or progress towards the equivalent of one of these designations) upon starting employment preferred. • Software: Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite preferred. • Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work effectively in a team setting, and ability to follow instructions as directed.
