SUMMARY Bering Straits Development Company, a subsidiary of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is currently seeking a qualified Carpenter for Nome, Alaska. This position entitles for a skilled carpenter to perform different tasks on properties and other contracts that we obtain. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Operate hand and power tools of all types. Review work orders and prints for the job. Estimate material requirements and tools or equipment needed to perform the job. Setup and operate wood working tools to cut, form and finish material for the job. Dismantle and erect steel and wood structures, repairs or refinishes walls or structures. Install wood or metal parts. Install glass or replaces broken glass as required. Setup or dismantle roofing or siding. Prepares irregular scaffolding which may be required. Lubricate and maintain carpenter shop equipment. Perform construction laborer work on commercial and public buildings. Haul demo materials to dumpster Unload materials and store efficiently onsite Maintain a clean and safe jobsite Keep work areas supplied with materials and clear of construction debris Assist other craft workers Turn in necessary paperwork to admin for job completion in a timely manner. Other Jobs and duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION Required (Minimum) Qualifications Must have valid Alaska Driver’s License. Must have high school diploma or GED. Minimum two (2) years full-time work experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of acceptable construction site practices including occupational safety and health regulations. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with internal and external clients/co-workers. Ability to follow direction. Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to complete each task assignment Preferred Platform manlift certification. Current first aid certification PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., able to work overhead. Repetitive motions will include screwing, drilling, hammering, etc. Operation of equipment will include extended boom man lifts, scissor lifts, and skidsteers. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Job is performed in both inside/outside setting. Occasional travel may be required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No supervisory responsibilities. ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
