Churchill, Manitoba, Canada REGIONAL HEALTH AUTHORITY CHURCHILL, MANITOBA R0B 0E0 CANADA MANAGER OF PATIENT CARE & QUALITY ASSURANCE FULL-TIME POSITION Out of Scope Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager of Patient Care and Quality Assurance is responsible to provide leadership in facilitating patient care for the in-patient ward, long term care, and emergency. Effective communication skills are integral and essential to this leadership role. The Manager of Patient Care and Quality Assurance is accountable for the effective management of the in-patient ward and programs including the human, material and financial resources. The Manager of Patient Care and Quality Assurance’s role is to promote optimum patient care in a therapeutic safe environment. The essential components of this first line management position are practice, administration, quality, education and research. The functions and responsibilities of the position are executed within the context of the ward, program, corporate, and regional goals. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Required. Current registration or eligibility for registration, with the appropriate professional association required. C urrent ACLS certification required. Minimum three years current, relevant clinical experience and have three years of management experience. Sound knowledge & understanding of evidence based practice. General knowledge of regulations & scope of practice documents that guide nursing. Working knowledge of legislative acts governing health care. Demonstrated ability to critically think, analyze, conceptualize & apply relevant knowledge to practice. Expert organizational, interpersonal, problem solving & decision making skills. Demonstrated leadership skills in an interdisciplinary team environment. Ability to work independently within an interdisciplinary context. Effective oral and written communication skills Ability to facilitate staff working to the professional expectations of practice. Ability to facilitate education through the principles of teaching adult learners. Ability to communicate effectively with programs, disciplines, and other administrative directors. Ability to work with minimal direction. Ability to function in a computerized environment. Knowledge of budgets and financial reporting systems. Mental and physical health to meet the demands of position.
