Duties and Responsibilities:

Diverse knowledge of architecture principals and practices, uses advanced techniques, and has responsibility for finished plans, specifications, and material approval
Solves problems when encountered, received guidance on unusual or complex projects and supervisory approval on proposed project plans
Be the primary point of contact for the Contractor and Owner’s site representatives and other agents employed by the Owner (Construction Manager, etc.) involved in submittal reviews, document interpretations (RFI’s/questions), and construction observations to verify that the requirements of the construction contract are being maintained and design intent is fulfilled.
Review, know and understand the contents of the Architect/Owner agreement and all deliverables within, as well as the Owner-Contractor agreements along with knowledge and understanding of the master specifications.
Review pre-design information available to gain a thorough understanding of the project’s scope, existing conditions, and design influences.
Participate in coordination conference calls and occasional design meetings to gain insight into RKA design process, workflows with consultants, specific approach(es) for projects, and to provide input from a construction perspective.

Review and evaluate all Delegated Design Item submittals in accordance with the performance specifications, as well as review and provide evaluations or comments to Requests for Information (RFI) and construction contractor technical submittals.
Be diligent in enforcing the design intent implicit in the Architect’s prepared Contract Documents (Drawings and Specifications), as well as have a strong working knowledge of the engineering design intent through documents prepared by consulting disciplines.
Effectively represent the interests of the Owner, the Architectural Firm, and the supporting Engineering Consultants during the construction phase.
Participate in Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) progress meetings, review and evaluate plan review coordination/building information management models (BIM) and drawings. Prepare meeting minutes when contractually required.
Attend in Continental U.S. (CONUS) and out of Continental U.S. (OCONUS) site visits to review samples, mock-ups, and construction issues, as well as factory and performance tests.
Provide studies, evaluations, and investigations during the construction phase as may be required to address unforeseen or concealed site conditions.
Provide periodic (semiannually or quarterly) on-site specific technical presence to support the project during the performance of construction phase support services.
Provide sketches are narratives to clarify contract documents and the project BIM models for purposes of coordination and review of contractor submittals.
Provide sketches and narratives to clarify contract documents in response to RFI’s.
Support Project Manager and Project Architect(s).

Skills and Qualifications

Professional Degree in Architecture or related field.
10 years of experience in the A/E/C industry.
Must be able to travel to construction/project sites as required - includes International.
Must be eligible to obtain Federal Security Clearance.
Exceptional knowledge of construction contract administration policies, procedures, and concepts.
Exceptional knowledge of project design, construction documentation, construction materials, building trades, means and methods.
Exceptional knowledge of building codes, specifications, building systems and engineering systems.
Familiarity with current version of LEED with respect to construction related requirements, submittals, and credit documentation. LEED credentials are a plus.
Ability to produce and maintain relationships among subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers.
Strong working knowledge of BIM systems and other software employed in documentation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Collaborative and professional work ethic.
