**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Vice Chancellor and General Counsel to join their team. As the principal lawyer for the University, the Vice Chancellor and General Counsel will provide legal advice, strategy, and counsel to the Chancellor, the Board of Trustees, and other university stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a law degree from an accredited law school and at least 15 years of legal experience, as well as excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to public higher education. Previous experience in representing public entities and in one or more of the University Counsel's practice areas is preferred. The successful candidate will also possess strong leadership and management skills, as well as a willingness to explore new ideas and approaches to service delivery. The Vice Chancellor and General Counsel will be responsible for hiring, developing, and supervising the legal and other professional staff of the Office of University Counsel, as well as securing and managing outside legal services for the University as needed.
Key responsibilities and requirements for the position include:
• Providing legal advice and counsel to the university administration, faculty, and staff on matters affecting the institution • Analyzing laws, regulations, and policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements • Serving as liaison on legal issues with various university entities and outside organizations • Hiring, developing, and supervising legal and other professional staff • Managing outside legal services as needed • Possessing a law degree from an accredited law school and at least 15 years of legal experience • Demonstrating excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to public higher education • Previous experience representing public entities and in one or more of the University Counsel's practice areas is preferred • Strong leadership and management skills, with a willingness to explore new ideas and approaches to service delivery • A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace
