JOB OVERVIEW The Department of A&F Central Utility Operations at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** provides utilities for over 100 buildings and over 12 million gross square feet in the Cincinnati area. Our Utilities Department has two plants on campus that provide electric, steam, and chilled water service to the University, local hospitals and surrounding areas. The plants burn a variety of fuels to ensure our reliability, cost effectiveness, and continued sustainability initiatives. Our staff are trained to efficiently operate, maintain, and improve the facilities and equipment, resulting in dependable utilities every day of the year.
We are currently seeking a Utility Engineer 4 who will, under the general supervision of a designated administrator or higher level engineer, utilize prescribed methods to perform specific procedures of dealing with energy efficiency, energy services, facilities management, plant engineering, environmental compliance and alternative energy technologies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS *Support the production, distribution, and transmission of reliable electricity, steam, and chilled water *Evaluate cost effective modes of utility plant, utility plant equipment, and building operation *Direct the work of contractors or staff in support of maintenance work and the implementation of projects in utility plants and on campus *Ensure safe, reliable, environmentally compliant, and regulatory compliant operations *Review and recommend technical design or process changes to improve efficiency, quality, or performance *Monitor and analyze energy production and consumption data *Produce technical reports for internal and external utilization *Evaluate construction design information such as detail and assembly drawings, design calculations, system layouts and sketches, or specifications *Develop operation and maintenance procedures to ensure equipment operations and reliability, and as necessary contingency plans for emergency operations *Design and manage repair and replacement work in utility plants and on campus *Identify energy savings opportunities and make recommendations to achieve more energy efficient operation *Answers standard questions and directs others for further advice, gives and receives technical information, and effectively communicates through written correspondence. *May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION *Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field. *Eight (8) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Four (4) years of related experience.
