Job Function/Summary:
As Trust Legal Counsel, you will review and interpret complex trust documents related to investment and management of trusts and estates. This includes addressing accounting-related issues, conflicts of interest, fees, and potential breaches of fiduciary duties. You will also oversee and provide support on estate administration matters and assist in developing training programs and materials for the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret complex trust documents - Oversee and support estate administration matters - Coordinate/participate with in-house/outside counsel on disputes and legal actions - Maintain record of threatened and/or actual litigation - Assist in developing training programs and materials - Serve as Chair of Discretionary Distribution Committee and Trust Administrative Committee - Keep informed of federal and state legislation and judicial decisions - Ensure compliance with laws and regulations
Minimum Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited institution with current license to practice law - 7 years of legal and/or trust experience - Licensed to practice law in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, or Texas, or eligible to become licensed in one or more of those states - In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory regimes governing collective investment trusts - Proficient in Microsoft Office products
