Nationwide, a Fortune 100 insurance company, is seeking a Trial Attorney to join their Legal team in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC. As a Trial Attorney, you will have the opportunity to deliver top-quality legal services and support the company's mission of protecting people, businesses, and futures with extraordinary care. This is a full-time position with a hybrid schedule of two days in the office and three days remote each week. The successful candidate will have prior insurance defense experience and will be proficient with case management software and Microsoft products. The main responsibilities of this role include independently demonstrating trial advocacy skills, maintaining a highly productive case volume, and fostering professional relationships within the legal and insurance industries. This position pays on a geographic-specific salary structure, with a national salary range of $93,000.00-$192,000.00 and an expected starting salary range of $103,000.00 - $155,000.00.

Responsibilities:
- Independently demonstrate trial advocacy skills - Maintain a highly productive case volume - Foster professional relationships within the legal and insurance industries - Utilize technology and collaborate with support staff for efficient case management - Stay updated on changes to the law, technology, and other aspects of the legal and insurance industries - Provide factually, legally, and analytically sound opinions on case valuations - Communicate professionally and effectively in all formats and situations - Dedicate to development as a litigation attorney and team member - Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school - Active license in the state of Maryland and Virginia - More than three years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation - Strong analytical skills and legal acumen - Proficiency with case management software and Microsoft products - Highly collaborative and able to work with staff and other attorneys on-site and remotely - Strong negotiation, time management, and organization skills - Ability to adapt to changes in the law and technology - Familiarity with private practice of law policy and ethical rules of the state - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
