Job Summary:
BDO is seeking an experienced tax professional to join our team as a Senior Tax Manager. In this role, you will provide tax and consulting services to business clients with pass through entities, such as S-corps, LLCs, and partnerships, as well as their business owners. You will have the opportunity to work closely with clients and internal managers and partners, contributing to client satisfaction and building strong relationships.
Job Duties:
- Perform tax planning, preparation, and research for pass through entities and their business owners - Manage client engagements and supervise and review the work of team staff members - Contribute to client satisfaction through timely services and work product - Demonstrate an understanding of tax concepts and stay updated on current tax developments - Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities and minimize their tax and reporting burdens - Conduct top level review of tax returns and resolve any issues with clients - Plan and review the tax process and procedures, including budgeting, staffing, and timely billing and collection - Provide timely advice to clients and involve firm specialists as needed - Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to benefit clients and the firm - Train and supervise team members and act as a career advisor and performance feedback provider
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Build and manage a team of professionals to serve high net worth clients - Supervise and review work of associates and senior associates - Train team members on current software tools - Act as a career advisor and provide performance feedback - Schedule and manage workload of team members
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics required, Master's degree preferred
Experience:
- Eight or more years of relevant tax experience in public accounting, private industry, or consulting/professional services - Prior supervisory experience required
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or IRS Enrolled Agent required - Possession of other professional degrees or certifications preferred
Software:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work independently and in a team environment - Strong analytical, research, and decision-making skills - Ability to manage and develop a team of tax professionals - Executive presence and ability to maintain client relationships
