We are currently seeking a Tax Principal, State and Local Tax to join our team in Dallas. This role will be responsible for providing excellent sales and use tax advisory and planning services to multi-state companies, as well as developing new business opportunities and managing client relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in state and local tax consulting and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sales and use tax advisory and planning services to multi-state companies - Generate new revenue through cross-selling and developing new client relationships - Act as a mentor or coach to other employees, providing performance feedback - Collaborate with clients, RSM SALT teams, and other RSM tax colleagues - Manage various sales and use tax consulting projects, including technical research, nexus studies, and audit defense - Lead and manage complex engagements, delivering high-value and quality tax advice
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university - CPA, CMI, JD, or LLM designation - Minimum of 12 years of experience in sales and use tax consulting in a public accounting, consulting, or law firm - Thorough knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws, regulations, and policies - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written - Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management and critical thinking skills - Excellent organizational and time management abilities - Experience with tax planning, restructuring, due diligence, and state controversy work
