**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SVP, Government Relations Advisor to join our team in Washington, DC. This is a new position and the incumbent will be responsible for leading and setting up our new office. Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a registered lobbyist to advocate for favorable federal legislative and regulatory positions for the Company and the industry - Build and maintain relationships with key members of Congress, congressional staff, and administration to support legislative and regulatory efforts - Educate Congress on the Military Family Housing Privatization program and the Company's efforts to support military members and their families - Attend and provide summaries of relevant Congressional hearings, briefings, and meetings - Manage relationships with consultants, think tanks, and trade associations to improve service and reduce costs - Provide recommendations for developing and managing political activities to align with business objectives - Draft legislative updates and conduct presentations to keep the Company informed and engaged in the legislative process - Work with Company executives to formulate policy positions - Establish and maintain a professional network of political, lobbying, campaign, and public policy contacts to raise the profile of the Company with federal legislators and trade associations
Qualifications:
- Law degree, M.B.A., or relevant graduate degree preferred - 5-10 years of experience in political, public policy, campaign, or lobbying roles, with a focus on insurance, banking, financial services, or related industries - Knowledge of annual Congressional appropriations and defense authorization process, preferably with experience in DoD organization and decision-making - Strong decision-making skills with the ability to analyze and think strategically - Excellent writing skills for a c-suite audience and ability to meet tight deadlines - Ethical conduct and a clear reputation for integrity - Self-starter with a results-oriented mindset and attention to detail - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal - Registered lobbyist with established relationships on Capitol Hill - Proficient knowledge of legislative processes - Outstanding people skills and ability to influence others - Availability to attend events and meetings outside of regular work hours - Possession of a valid state-issued driver's license and safe driving record
