The MP&A Intern will support Central Planning:
Central Planning is a team within Merchandise Planning & Allocation that provides guidance on financial architecture, as well as timely business insights through a blend of historical analysis, current trend and application of go-forward strategy. Central Planning helps all areas of merchandising and MP&A drive toward the same goals! The Central Planning team has an analyst internship opportunity available for Summer 2022. At the end of the program the intern will have a better understanding of MP&A, as well as many other functions within at Designer Brands.
The CP Intern requires a candidate that is passionate about learning the many different facets of MP&A and is highly curious. Candidates must thrive in an analytic, collaborative and detail-oriented environment. In this position, exposure will be given to the business dynamics between all categories.
Candidate will work toward building skills that help influence strategic plans for the business through in-depth analysis and cross-functional interactions. This position will expose the impact that product, price and placement have on the total business, shedding light onto the levers that move the selling equation for different levels of the hierarchy (Women's, Men's, Kids, etc.), different channels of the business (digital vs. stores), and different life cycles of goods (regular vs. clearance). This candidate will gain understanding of the life cycle of an item through exposure in multiple areas of MP&A such as Allocation, POM, Assortment Planning, Store Planning, etc. Candidate will have many opportunities to share analysis, forward modeling, and insights found to grow analytical and influencing skills while helping to maximize the business.
*Internships will begin Summer 2022 (Mid to late May) and last for 12 weeks. *All interns are full-time, paid positions based in Columbus, OH (hybrid - onsite & remote OR fully remote) *All interns must be able to pay for their own housing and transportation while in Columbus *Only the candidates who meet the internship requirements will be contacted for interviews *All interns will be required to complete a project at the end of the internship program *This opportunity is only open to SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, and SENIOR candidates *Relocation and housing expenses will not be covered by Designer Brands
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Attends Cross functional Meetings & Supports though Analysis *Utilizes Company Data tools MicroStrategy & Applied Predictive Technologies to query data needed; strong Microsoft Excel skills needed to analyze queried data. *Builds Reports, analyzes results and prepares recommendations to share *Experiences multiple areas of MP&A

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
*Knowledge of the retail industry *Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Statistics, Economics Helpful
