Summer Associates
A Summer Associate at Rosenblum Goldenhersh is treated as a first-year Associate, with primary emphasis on allowing the Summer Associate to experience what it is like to be an Associate at the Firm. The Firm’s desire is that the Summer Associate will become a full-time Associate upon completion of Law School.
In a typical summer, one attorney will be designated the Summer Associate’s mentor. Initially, the work flows through the mentor to the Summer Associate. However, we find that successful Summer Associates soon begin to receive work directly from Partners and Associates who work directly with the Summer Associate in reviewing his or her work.
A Summer Associate can expect a variety of assignments from all areas of the firm. This includes projects from both the transactional group and the litigation group. The transactional group projects include working with start-up and existing business clients. Projects often involve forming or dissolving a business entity, assisting with real estate and other transactions, conducting research in a variety of areas, and drafting a variety of agreements, including employment agreements, stockholder agreements, wills and trusts, deeds, and organizational documents for corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies. The litigation group projects include researching and preparing memos for various cases, drafting related pleadings and court documents, and participating in or attending the related depositions, client conferences, trials, appeals and other legal proceedings. It is not unusual for Summer Associates to have direct contact with clients throughout the summer.
While our Attorneys enjoy practicing law, they also enjoy activities outside of the firm. Each summer, the entire firm (including all attorneys, summer associates, staff and their significant others) attends a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game in a party suite. However, most social activities for the Summer Associates are arranged on a more informal basis. Afternoon golf outings, impromptu happy hours and daytime Cardinals games are typical Summer Associate activities.
We are flexible with our start and completion dates for the Summer Associate program. The program generally runs from middle-to-late May through early August. Split Summers are reviewed on an individual case by case basis.
We are looking for bright, mature and energetic individuals who possess the desire to become outstanding attorneys. The young attorneys who succeed at our Firm usually thrive in an informal, fast paced setting and enjoy “hitting the ground running”.
