The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) is seeking a law student intern for summer 2025 to support their work advocating for the economic security of women and families with low incomes. This is a full-time, paid position for 37.5 hours per week, with the option to work in person or hybrid at their Washington, D.C. office. The successful candidate must be based in D.C., Maryland, or Virginia for the duration of the internship.
NWLC is a leading organization in the fight for gender justice, using the law to drive solutions and break down barriers that disproportionately affect women of color, LGBTQ individuals, and low-income women and families. With over 50 years of experience, NWLC is at the forefront of major legal and policy victories for women.
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to support advocacy efforts on various issues such as tax policy, housing policy, nutrition policy, and anti-poverty programs. You will also have the chance to research legal and policy issues, track federal and state legislation, and attend meetings and events on behalf of the team. This internship will not involve litigation activities.
To qualify for this position, you must be currently enrolled in a JD program and have strong research and writing skills. Experience working on gender justice issues and in a research, advocacy, or policymaking environment is preferred. NWLC values diversity and encourages individuals with disabilities, people of all gender identities and sexual orientations, people of color, and veterans to apply.
The intern will report to the Senior Counsel for Income Security and will be paid an hourly rate of $17.50 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits, but adjustments may be made if the intern's school provides funding. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for the hiring process, and interested applicants are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet all qualifications.
