State and Local Tax Manager or Senior Manager - Income & Franchise Tax
Weaver is seeking a highly skilled and experienced State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager or Senior Manager to join our team and lead the Income and Franchise Tax division of our SALT practice. Responsibilities: - Lead the Income and Franchise Tax division of the SALT practice - Provide tax advisory, controversy and compliance services to clients - Plan, supervise and review state income, franchise and consolidated and combined tax returns for businesses and state income tax returns for individuals - Stay knowledgeable about tax law changes in various states and communicate key issues and changes to the firm and clients - Manage, mentor and develop staff - Attract and service new clients and expand services to existing clients - Collaborate with partnerships and maintain strong relationships - Balance high development and high performance to meet the long-term goals of individuals, teams and the firm
Qualifications: - 5 years of state and local tax experience in a public accounting firm with a focus on state income and franchise tax compliance and consulting - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting - CPA, CMI or JD preferred - Master’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred - Proven ability to manage, mentor and develop staff - Strong relationship management and practice development skills - Ability to attract and service new clients and expand services to existing clients - Strong partnership experience
