About the Organization: - Established in 1969, RFJ is the oldest clinical teaching program in the District of Columbia - Operates as a public interest legal services provider and clinical education program - Dedicated to providing free legal representation to low-income residents of Washington, D.C.
Responsibilities: - Directly representing clients in expungement and civil protection order cases - Conducting client intake interviews and providing legal advice at the D.C. Superior Court office - Developing and facilitating outreach and community education initiatives and training sessions - Assisting with organizational fundraising activities and data entry in the case management system - Mentoring pro bono attorneys and training and supervising legal assistants or interns (depending on experience)
Qualifications: - Licensed to practice in the District of Columbia or eligible to waive into the DC Bar - Experience representing individuals from diverse backgrounds and marginalized communities - Demonstrated commitment to client-centered representation for clients accused of criminal conduct - Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team - Excellent oral and written advocacy skills - Spanish fluency preferred but not required - Criminal litigation experience highly desirable
