Introduction:

The organization was founded in 1977 and serves clients in all 99 Iowa counties through its offices in Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Dubuque, Iowa City, Mason City, Ottumwa, Sioux City, and Waterloo. The organization is dedicated to providing free legal assistance and community legal education to low-income and other vulnerable individuals in Iowa.
- Provide free legal assistance and community legal education to low-income and vulnerable Iowans. - Prioritize work involving housing, domestic violence, income maintenance, health care, individual rights, and consumer issues. - Appear in court frequently and serve clients through various outreach events and clinics. - Play a crucial role in changing systems and achieving justice through impact advocacy. - Participate in the organization's diverse practice, ranging from advice and brief service to full representation before administrative agencies and state and federal courts.
Qualifications:
- Must be a law school graduate licensed to practice law in Iowa, eligible for admission on motion, or available for the next scheduled bar examination. - Prior legal experience is preferred. - Demonstrated interest in poverty law and commitment to providing legal services to low-income individuals. - Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collegial environment. - Fluency in Spanish or other languages is a plus.
Salary and Benefits:
