Staff Attorney (Missouri) - Join the Fight for Civil Rights

The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is seeking a passionate and dedicated Staff Attorney to join our civil rights department in Missouri. As our nation faces unprecedented challenges, we need a talented legal mind to help us protect the rights of American Muslims and ensure equal treatment for all. This is a full-time, exempt position with a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $78,000 annually.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including motions, answers, and court filings - Prepare written work product such as legal and research memorandums - Draft demand letters and engage in alternative dispute resolution to resolve civil rights cases - Represent clients during FBI interrogations - Assist trial attorneys with various aspects of litigation, including client interviews, investigation, and trial preparation - Participate in speaking engagements on civil rights issues facing American Muslims - Train and coach CAIR staff as needed - Stay updated on changes in the law through continuing education - Attend to other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school - Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines - Familiarity with federal court procedures - Excellent legal research, writing, and oral skills - No disciplinary actions on record or pending - Minimum of 3 years' experience in civil rights law at the associate level - Understanding of civil rights issues affecting American Muslims - Passion for CAIR's mission - Fluency in a language other than English is a plus
