- Seeking a dedicated and licensed attorney to join our team at MIRC's Grand Rapids office - Work on important and challenging immigration cases at a critical time - Potential for a hybrid work schedule - MIRC is a legal resource center for immigrants and immigration advocates across Michigan - Offices in Ypsilanti, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Kalamazoo - Direct representation, pro bono referrals, impact litigation, training, coalition building, advocacy, technical support, and more - Part of Michigan Statewide Advocacy Services (MSAS), a non-profit law firm providing free legal services to low-income and senior residents of Michigan - Administrative services provided by Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP) - Access to justice system for those in need through civil legal aid offices and statewide advocacy programs
QUALIFICATIONS: - Must be licensed to practice law in Michigan, qualified to be admitted by waiver, or able to take the next Michigan bar exam - Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills - Demonstrated commitment to protecting the rights of immigrants or other persons in poverty - Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills - Proficient in major software and web services including Word, Excel, G Suite - Access to reliable internet connection if working remotely - Priority given to candidates with experience, especially related to immigration and poverty - Fluency in Spanish preferred
