Job Description
The Staff Attorney position at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** (JALA) is a full-time, Florida licensed attorney role dedicated to providing legal representation and advocacy for low-income individuals and families in the Jacksonville area. JALA is a non-profit organization committed to ensuring access to justice and fair treatment in areas such as housing, consumer rights, and family law. The position will primarily focus on elder-related and family law issues, but will also involve general intake and coordination with JALA's litigation units. The role is based at JALA's satellite location at Nassau County Council on Aging.
Experience: Civil trial practice experience in a law school clinical setting and/or law firm is preferred. Familiarity with elder law, family law, or a related field is a plus.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
- Embrace and support JALA's mission, standards, policies and procedures, and confidentiality guidelines. - Conduct intake interviews and screen for eligibility for representation. - Maintain a caseload and provide full and effective legal representation and advocacy in elder affairs and family law matters. - Stay updated on developments in specialized areas of law relevant to elder affairs and family law advocacy. - Comply with all applicable regulations, policies, and grant requirements. - Support and participate in community education and outreach, and develop good public relations with the client community, state and local bar, and other community groups. - Ensure accuracy and completeness of client files, data, and reports. - Perform other duties and projects as needed to support JALA's mission.
Qualifications:
- Member in good standing of The Florida Bar. - Civil trial practice experience in a law school clinical setting and/or law firm. - Familiarity with elder law, family law, or a related field. - Strong organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication. - Ability to engage a diverse constituency of individuals and community stakeholders. - Resourcefulness and ability to take initiative in project development and completion. - Proficiency in Google and Microsoft applications.
