Overview:
Disability Rights Center – New Hampshire (DRC-NH) is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the legal rights and advocacy interests of all people with disabilities. With over 45 years of experience, DRC-NH has successfully litigated landmark cases in federal and state courts, leading to historic investments in mental health services and improved accessibility for people with disabilities. DRC-NH is seeking a full-time or part-time staff attorney to join their team in the fight for equal rights and opportunities for people with disabilities across the state.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients with disabilities in individual and systemic litigation related to disability rights issues in administrative proceedings, state, and federal courts - Participate in task forces, coalitions, and committees that benefit people with disabilities - Respond to media requests on behalf of DRC-NH regarding issues impacting people with disabilities
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience in civil and/or criminal litigation; knowledge of disability law is helpful, but not necessary - Strong commitment to enforcing and expanding the rights of people with disabilities in New Hampshire - Excellent communication, organization, and writing skills, with a proactive problem-solving approach and good judgment - J.D. from an accredited law school - Active membership in the New Hampshire State Bar and the Bar of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, or ability to gain admission promptly
