Organization: Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, Inc. (SMRLS) Job Title: Staff Attorney - Housing Experience: Courtroom and/or administrative hearing experience preferred Location: Metro Region, Minnesota Salary: Starting salary of $80,020 DOE, pursuant to salary scale
Responsibilities: - Provide legal representation for clients in housing cases - Handle evictions, voucher/subsidy/lease terminations, housing repair, and housing discrimination cases - Represent clients in negotiations, administrative hearings, court hearings and appeals - Maintain a caseload in compliance with SMRLS’ written practice standards - Comply with SMRLS’ policies, practices, and guiding principles - Participate in community education efforts and outreach
Qualifications: - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations - Courtroom and/or administrative hearing experience preferred - Excellent communication skills - Ability to work positively and constructively with others in a teamwork setting - Good judgment and ability to work under pressure - Must be a licensed attorney in the state of Minnesota

Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, Inc. (SMRLS) is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to join our team as a Staff Attorney - Housing in the Metro Region of Minnesota. This position offers a competitive salary starting at $80,020 DOE, along with great benefits including excellent medical and dental benefits.
As a Staff Attorney, you will provide a full range of legal representation for clients in housing cases, including evictions, voucher/subsidy/lease terminations, housing repair, and housing discrimination. You will represent clients in negotiations, administrative hearings, court hearings, and appeals, while maintaining a caseload in compliance with SMRLS’ written practice standards and policies. Additionally, you may be asked to participate in community education efforts and outreach.
To qualify for this position, you must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with low-income clients, victims of domestic violence, and individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Courtroom and/or administrative hearing experience is preferred, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work positively and constructively with others in a teamwork setting. A valid license to practice law in the state of Minnesota is also required.
