Job Description
The Senior Counsel position at Mars is a highly sought-after role for experienced legal professionals. As a Senior Counsel, you will be responsible for managing trademark and copyright matters, as well as developing and executing global brand strategies for assigned business segments. This role requires 10 years of experience, with a strong background in global trademark practice and business acumen. CPG experience is a plus, and candidates must be actively practicing law in their country of admission. This position can be based in either Tennessee or New Jersey. In this role, you will work closely with the MP-AGC to ensure the successful execution of global and regional business strategies. You will also collaborate with team members and oversee local country counsels to ensure the implementation of appropriate trademark strategies. The Senior Counsel will also handle day-to-day counseling, trademark clearance, enforcement, and litigation matters, and will work closely with the newly-created MP Operations team. This position requires a deep understanding of the business and the ability to work with cross-functional partners to achieve objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day handling of trademark and copyright matters, including portfolio management and execution of global brand strategy for assigned business segments - Collaborate with team members and MP-AGC to ensure execution of global and regional business strategies - Work closely with the newly-created MP Operations team on clearance, trademark filings, artwork review, and renewals - Manage day-to-day counseling, trademark clearance, enforcement, and litigation matters - Oversee local country counsels and use best practices to deliver on strategies - Understand the business and work with cross-functional partners to achieve objectives
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited law school and professionally qualified lawyer with 10 years of experience - Experience in both law firm and in-house roles - Demonstrated success in global trademark practice with strong business acumen - Actively practicing law in country of admission - CPG experience is a plus
