The Sr. Corporate Counsel / Legal Counsel will play a crucial role in supporting the commercial operations of Continental, a leading technology company in the automotive industry. This role will involve negotiating and drafting various domestic and international contracts, providing legal counsel to the commercial real estate team, and advising on a variety of business and legal matters. The ideal candidate will have a JD degree from an ABA accredited law school, 5 years of experience as an attorney, and a strong understanding of commercial contracts and business operations. Responsibilities:
- Negotiate and draft domestic and international commercial contracts with customers, suppliers, and business partners - Provide legal counsel to the commercial real estate team, including drafting and reviewing purchase and sale agreements, construction contracts, and leases - Offer legal and business advice to support all areas of the company and corporate functions - Collaborate with marketing and communication teams on advertising and product materials, sponsorships, and trade show arrangements - Train employees on bid and contract review processes and other legal and compliance issues - Manage customer and supplier disputes and formal litigation matters - Oversee corporate governance for all North American legal entities - Communicate complex legal issues to all levels of the organization, including senior management - Work closely with clients to encourage the use of in-house legal counsel
Requirements:
- Bachelor's and JD degree from an ABA accredited law school - Admitted to the Bar in at least one state - 5 years of experience as an attorney in a corporation, law firm, or both - Familiarity with UCC Article 2 and commercial contract negotiation and drafting - Ability to work with international clients and colleagues - Strong judgment and business acumen - Self-motivated and efficient with good analytical skills - Creative and forward-thinking with the ability to implement ideas and improve compliance with internal policies - Understanding of ethical principles, company values, and corporate policies - Legal authorization to work in the US - Relocation assistance available if needed
Additional Qualifications:
- Admitted to the Bar in North and/or South Carolina - Experience in a global manufacturing and technology company - Knowledge of the tire and automotive industry - 7 years of experience as an attorney in a corporation, law firm, or both
