Job Summary
As a Manufacturing Engineer for COI Ceramics, Inc. (an Orbital ATK affiliate company) responsibilities will include both the planning and execution phases of hardware fabrication for a wide variety of military, commercial aerospace and industrial applications.
Description
* Develops tooling concepts and methodologies * Using the established manufacturing process flow, defines sequences of events, develops text and graphics work instructions, manufacturing datasets, tooling requirements, and manufacturing bills of material. * Communicates with engineering teams to influence and clarify design concepts. * Coordinates change incorporation, optimizes processes, and addresses producibility issues and production and post-production problems. * Maintains configuration control of the manufacturing build plan of composite details, sub-assemblies and major assemblies. * Identifies and implements cost reduction opportunities such as improved material utilization, increased machine and layup process efficiency reduced cost of poor quality, etc. * Investigates and troubleshoots production difficulties and takes corrective measures. * Supports lessons learned documentation and specification revision/incorporation * Supports ongoing R&D programs * Participates in process improvement activities
Requirements
* Knowledge of processes and materials, including fabrication (layup or machining), assembly and tooling. * Ability to determine the preferred process, assist in developing design concepts, and direct the manufacture of composites, (e.g., materials, bonded assembly, tooling and assembly integration, etc.). * Must have a good understanding of technical principles, theories, and techniques of composite fabrication and methodologies
Additional Requirements:
* Knowledge and experience with ceramics or ceramic composites fabrication methodologies preferred * Proven experience in the manufacture of composite products. * Ability to identify opportunities to develop/improve existing processes, highly motivated for excellence * Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices preferred * Proven leadership ability from past experiences * Experience and success in working within teams * Proven ability to multi-task and self-starter able to work independently * Strong interpersonal skills to drive actions necessary to accomplish assigned tasks * Customer focus * Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources * Technical attention to detail on past projects and assignments * Experience in the use of design tools such as NX or IDEAS * Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access * Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education/Experience
* B.S. or M.S. Degree in Mechanical/Materials Engineering * Prefer 4 Years' Experience in related industry
