Job Description
The purpose of the Server Upgrade Project is to upgrade ~550 servers whose operating systems are at or nearing end of support in an effort to decrease risk, and increase security and supportability.
The Project includes Windows 2008 servers, which will be upgraded to Windows 2016, Linux 5 & 6 servers, which will be upgraded to Linux RedHat 7.5, and AIX 6.1 which will be upgraded in place to AIX 7.x.
As confidence increases in the stability of Windows 2019, we will start to use it as the default upgrade O/S for Windows servers.
The project is not intended to upgrade applications and/or databases.
Application and database software versions will, however, be upgraded where required and/or appropriate to ensure we remain in supported configurations, provided the effort to complete and test the upgrade does not significantly extend the timelines of the builds or impact the project budget.
Several critical business and public facing applications are in scope and will require vulnerability assessments.
The server upgrades will require coordination of resources from a number of branches, including Operations and Security, Corporate Services and Projects, and Application and Information Management Services (including COTS vendors as necessary). Application and Information Management Services resources will test all applications on the new operating systems prior to the upgrade. They will help mitigate problems encountered where possible.
Resources will also be required for testing applications and any upgraded file servers.
Qualifications Required
5 years of enterprise level CITRIX experience and expertise. Experience with CITRIX 6.5, Server 2008, CITRIX 7.15, Server 2012 and Server 2016 is required.
– Preferably with a recognized professional certification and Post-secondary education (2 year program) in business, computer science, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Extensive experience with Windows Server Administration with a strong background in Citrix Xenapp Server architecture, design, implementation and support.
Experience with identifying, troubleshooting and resolving issues that affect Citrix and Windows related products and/or applications.
Experience with CITRIX StoreFront and CITRIX Gateway/NetScaler and your experience in supporting Citrix Metaframe/PS infrastructure and related applications
Experience with VMware and VSphere client; and SQL Server 2008 and SQL server 2012 administration
Experience with developing and preparing technical and other project related documentation

This project has been ongoing for the last two years and is expected to continue until late fall 2021. This request is only for the current fiscal year, however, it is anticipated that this position will be extended subject to funding approval next fiscal year.
