- Provide legal representation and advice to ADOA Risk Management and state agencies in employment law matters - Serve as lead counsel in complex employment-related litigation - Mentor and advise newer, less experienced attorneys - Represent and defend state agencies in federal and state administrative actions and court cases - Conduct discovery, litigation, motion practice, evidentiary hearings, and case settlements - Assist in responding to charges filed by state employees with federal agencies - Assist in drafting rules, regulations, legislation, and policies affecting the agency - Provide legal advice and training on employment law matters to agency employees - Oversee and supervise work product of support staff - Travel within and outside of Arizona for work purposes
Requirements: - Admission to and good standing with the Arizona State Bar - Extensive experience and knowledge in civil litigation, including pretrial and trial practice - Knowledge of ethical standards applicable to lawyers and public employees - Excellent communication and writing skills - Ability to analyze legal issues, assess evidence, and provide effective legal advice - Ability to manage a significant number of cases and work with subordinate staff - Willingness to travel and handle a high volume of work and stressful situations
