Citi, a global financial institution, is seeking a Senior Lead Counsel 1/SVP for their Employment & HR Legal team. This role will provide legal support, advice, and guidance across Employment & HR and Citi Businesses and Functions.
Job Summary:
The SVP, Senior Lead Counsel 1 (Employment & HR) will serve as a subject matter expert and legal advisor to business stakeholders, functional partners, and the Legal Management Committee. This role will provide counsel and thought leadership on all aspects of legal matters related to Employment & HR, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations and advising on human resource matters within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide counsel to managers regarding compliance with employment laws - Prepare, execute, and advise the business on employment contracts, claims of discrimination, and employment-related arbitration - Interpret, apply, review, and enhance employment policies, practices, and compliance initiatives - Serve as a recognized subject matter expert to senior management and/or primary advisor to senior business stakeholders - Provide legal counsel and support for strategic initiatives and product/service launches - Represent the firm internally and externally with clients, government bodies, or other organizations - Anticipate and respond to developments in local and international employment laws and regulations - Proactively identify and manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risk - Participate in planning and development initiatives and contribute thought leadership
Qualifications:
- 7 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services - Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and practices - Experience with complex matters and ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions - Effective communication and negotiation skills - Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and relationship management skills - Ability to apply sound judgement in a demanding, fast-paced environment - Bar license in good standing to practice law
Education:
Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree
Salary Information:
- Full-time position with a salary range of $211,280.00 - $316,920.00 per year - Additional discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards may be offered - Competitive employee benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), life, accident, and disability insurance, and wellness programs - Paid time off packages including vacation, sick leave, and holidays
