About the Role:
The Senior Intellectual Property Counsel (Director) will play a crucial role in supporting Boston Scientific's Endoscopy business segment. The selected candidate will provide legal advice and services related to patents, copyrights, trademarks, and licensing agreements. They will also be responsible for evaluating patents and potential product infringement issues, overseeing the preparation of patent applications, and participating in intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directing patent, copyright, trademark, and intellectual property protection for the company - Overseeing the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent and trademark applications through outside counsel - Conducting IP due diligence and supporting negotiations for intellectual property acquisition or license agreements related to M&A transactions - Reviewing third party patent portfolios for potential acquisition or licensing opportunities - Providing legal advice in various areas such as consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, and marketing materials - Reviewing outside counsel work and ensuring it meets the company's expectations - Facilitating Patent Review Board meetings and providing IP training to employees - Potentially managing and supervising the work of junior counsel and other IP legal professionals
Requirements:
- JD admitted to a state bar in good standing - Registered U.S. Patent Attorney - 12 years of legal experience with a reputable law firm or corporate legal department - Minimum 2 years of patent prosecution experience - Some IP litigation and M&A experience - Experience drafting and negotiating IP agreements - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders - Action-oriented and able to take on new challenges with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical device experience - Law firm and in-house experience - Experience with patent analytics, AI tools, docket management tools, and/or database searching

The salary for this position will be competitive and based on the candidate's experience.
Work Mode:
This is a full-time position with a hybrid work mode, allowing for a mix of in-office and remote work.
