**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** (SRNL) is seeking a Senior Counsel with experience in employment law to provide legal support and advice to staff and management. This position will report to the General Counsel and will have the opportunity to work on a variety of legal issues related to the laboratory's research and development mission. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and writing skills, as well as a strong understanding of federal and state employment laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support on a range of employment law issues, including federal and state laws, EEO, compensation, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, employee litigation, and OFFCP compliance - Conduct research and analysis on complex legal issues related to employment law, employee benefits, diversity, equity and inclusion, disability, hiring practices, discipline, performance, claims of discrimination or retaliation, employee records, wages and compensation, retirement and pension, attendance, immigration, and labor relations - Review contracts and Master Service Agreements related to employee benefits and other related procurements - Coordinate with outside counsel on various legal matters - Provide risk identification and analysis, and incorporate appropriate risk mitigation strategies into legal advice and support - Provide legal guidance to senior management on employee claims and litigation - Interact with senior levels of management at SRNL - Deliver presentations and training on legal topics, both internally and externally - Stay up to date on all governing laws and the Prime Contract with the Department of Energy (DOE)
Qualifications:
- J.D. Degree from an ABA accredited law school - Minimum of 8 years of experience in employment law - Licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney in a state of the United States - Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws - Understanding of the DOE and its facilities and management and operating contractor system is a plus - Experience providing legal advice on contracts and other legal agreements, especially federal government contracting, is desirable but not required
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy - Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen to obtain a clearance - Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background review - Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance
