Job Description We are seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to join our team and provide pragmatic legal advice, counsel, and representation to the organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Legal, this role will also involve assisting with compliance and risk management activities for the company.
Key Responsibilities • Provide accurate, pragmatic, and timely legal advice to business leaders on a variety of topics related to the company's business and products • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements • Manage internal contract review and retention processes and systems • Provide input on internal governance policies and procedures • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations • Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation that directly affect our business and industry
Requirements • J.D. degree, with an MA in Business Administration or related field considered an asset • 5-7 years of experience in corporate commercial law, with proven general counseling experience in a business environment • Prior experience as in-house counsel strongly preferred • Broad legal knowledge, including corporate law, litigation, and contracts • Working knowledge of commercial compliance, privacy, licensing, and regulatory matters is a plus • Strong understanding of how legal issues can impact organizations • Ability to develop legal strategies and objectives with a business and solutions-oriented mindset • Familiarity with business operations and financial acumen • High level of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas • Ability to anticipate legal issues and risks and provide proactive solutions • Excellent judgement and analytical skills • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to summarize complex issues clearly and accurately • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively engage with all levels of the organization • Experience in talent development and team leadership • Proficiency in Microsoft suite and Contract Management Systems • Limited travel required
