Senior Corporate Counsel, Manufacturing and Site Operations Law Group - South San Francisco, California
Salary Range: $198,500 - $368,600
Job Description:
The Senior Corporate Counsel position within Genentech’s Manufacturing and Site Operations Law Group (MSOLG) is a key leadership role responsible for providing legal advice to Genentech and Roche U.S. Pharma-affiliated sites and manufacturing operations. This individual will work closely with various departments and business units to ensure compliance with environmental health and safety laws and regulations, as well as providing legal support for real estate and transactional matters. This is a full-time position based in South San Francisco, California, and relocation benefits are not available for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing legal advice to Genentech and Roche U.S. Pharma affiliated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) departments, manufacturing operations, facilities & engineering, real estate/planning, research, and other site organizations and business units. - Advising and representing the Company on complex EHS compliance and enforcement matters, including hazardous waste, hazardous materials, air emissions, wastewater, process safety, occupational safety and health, and sustainability. - Managing site remediation activities and coordinating environmental due diligence for site acquisition and development. - Negotiating EHS and related provisions in transactional documents. - Providing legal counsel for land use matters and construction projects. - Advising on regulatory and compliance matters related to manufacturing practices and quality system requirements. - Managing outside counsel for legal matters.

Qualifications:
- 7 years of EHS or manufacturing related legal experience, ideally in a pharma/biotech corporate setting or law firm. - U.S. law degree and admission to at least one U.S. state bar, or eligible for California’s Registered In-House Counsel program. - Experience providing EHS regulatory compliance advice to industrial clients, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industries. - Strong communication skills and ability to influence and present to senior leaders. - Strategic thinker with a growth-oriented mindset and high emotional intelligence.
