Experience in immigration law through impact litigation or direct services
Supervisory experience and ability to provide mentorship and feedback
Commitment to social justice and defending the rights of marginalized communities
Bilingual in English and Spanish or other language spoken by non-citizens in the United States
Residence in or willingness to relocate to Southern California

CHRCL is seeking a Supervising Attorney to join their team in Los Angeles/ Orange County, CA. This full-time position offers a salary of $150,000 and the opportunity to work in a hybrid role. The ideal candidate will have a J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school, be licensed to practice law in California, and have a minimum of 5-10 years of litigation experience. They should also have experience in class action and impact litigation, preferably in federal courts, and a commitment to social justice and defending the rights of marginalized communities.
The Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law (CHRCL) is a California State Bar-funded legal support center that provides training and technical support to direct legal service providers, addresses systemic injustice, and advocates for the rights of immigrants, refugees, children, and marginalized communities. The Center has a legacy of impact litigation, including landmark cases such as Munoz v. Bell, Plyler v. Doe, and Flores v. Reno. The organization is currently led by Carlos Holguín, co-founder and lead counsel on many of their cases.
The Supervising Attorney will work closely with the senior litigator/legal director and the CHRCL team to develop legal advocacy strategies and lead new impact and class action litigation. They will also supervise staff attorneys and provide mentorship and feedback, work with qualified legal service providers to identify patterns of injustice, and collaborate with the legal and advocacy teams on holistic legal advocacy efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience in immigration law and be bilingual in English and Spanish or another language spoken by non-citizens in the United States.
