Job Description:
Grant Thornton is seeking a Senior Associate in Income and Franchise Tax to join our team in Cincinnati, OH. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with our Income/Franchise Tax team and work closely with staff on various tax matters. You will also have access to high quality tools and resources to excel in your role and meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects within budget - Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on tax projects and assess their performance - Deliver a full range of State & Local Tax services, including tax return preparation and review, tax research, and preparation of technical memorandums and client correspondence - Review tax returns done by staff and provide recommendations for accuracy and tax savings opportunities - Conduct multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, credits and incentives for clients - Prepare more complex State & Local Income/Franchise Tax returns and demonstrate an understanding of complex tax concepts - Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities - Other duties as assigned
Technical Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting - Minimum 2-6 years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience - CPA, JD, or Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation preferred - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong teamwork, analytical skills, and attention to detail - Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel - Ability to travel as needed
