ABOUT UC EVALUATION SERVICES CENTER AND CECH UC Evaluation Services Center (UCESC) is seeking a full-time Research Associate to lead community-based evaluation projects that change lives and systems. UCESC's diverse team of specialists works collaboratively to meet the needs of local and national partners on 30 projects annually. We value a supportive learning environment where each team member builds on their strengths and contributes to the overall success of the center. JOB OVERVIEW UCESC Research Associates apply their quantitative or qualitative and/or mixed methods skills to support all phases of projects (e.g., project management, idea generation, instrument development, research design, data collection, data analysis, report and publication writing, and presentations), ensuring that results are useful for community stakeholders. Research Associates work collaboratively in a team environment to actively contribute to the Center's continuous improvement and to identify potential new projects. Responsibilities also include supporting the growth and development of graduate assistants and staff. The Research Associate position has the potential for a hybrid telework schedule after orientation period is completed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS *Assist with the coordination of research studies in a particular discipline. *Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience. *Solve problems using combined research knowledge. *Independently works on whole projects/problems. *Contribute to the collective team effort. *Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. *Analyze research results. *Organize data search and analysis procedures. *Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards. *Assist in the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data. *Accomplish assigned results for project/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments. *May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). REQUIRED EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree required in a related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE *In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline. *May require experience with specialized software programs. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED *Earned master's degree or doctoral degree in evaluation, statistics, data sciences, demography, economics, political science, psychology, public policy, sociology, history, information systems or a related field at time of appointment. *Two (2) years of experience in any of the following: Experience working or volunteering with community groups, human services, or government programs. Experience in conducting program evaluation, measurement, or assessment; Experience with at least one statistical or qualitative software program commonly used in the field of evaluation (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, or MAXQDA). *Strong communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally. *Ability to translate complex data into useful reports and presentations through data visualization techniques and other approaches.
