ABOUT UC EVALUATION SERVICES CENTER UC Evaluation Services Center (UCESC) is seeking a research associate to lead data and evidence-based evaluation projects that change lives, systems, and communities. UCESC's team of specialists provide evaluation design and technical assistance, collect and analyze data, and report results for local, state, and national partners. UCESC conducts 30-40 projects annually in the fields of public health, education, and related human services using specialized technology. UCESC's team includes staff with masters and doctoral degrees in research, education, or related fields as well as support staff, graduate and undergraduate students.
JOB OVERVIEW The UCESC Research Associate conducts all aspects of studies (e.g., idea generation, instrument development, research design, data analysis, report and publication writing, and presentations), ensuring that results are useful for the project stakeholders. The Research Associate will work collaboratively in a team environment, actively promote and contribute to the Center's continuous improvement, and contribute to the initiation of business development, including proposal writing. Responsibilities also include supporting graduate assistants and junior employees in growth and development for project work (as needed).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS *Assist with the coordination of research studies in a particular discipline. *Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience. *Solve problems using combined research knowledge. *Independently works on whole projects/problems. *Contribute to the collective team effort. *Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. *Analyze research results. *Organize data search and analysis procedures. *Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards. *Assist in the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data. *Accomplish assigned results for project/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments. *Serve as a seasoned level researcher. *May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE *In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline. *May require experience with specialized software programs. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED *Earned doctoral or master's degree in evaluation, statistics, data sciences, demography, economics, political science, psychology, public policy, sociology, history, information system or a related field at time of appointment. *Demonstrated experience in conducting program evaluation, measurement, or assessment using quantitative or qualitative methods and/or mixed methods. *Two (2) years of experience with statistical analysis and statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R) and/or qualitative analysis and software (e.g. MAXQDA). *Project management skills: ability to multitask, problem-solve, prioritize, and delegate *Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities, and able to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions. *Ability to work well with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and community partners. *Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally.
