JOB OVERVIEW As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.
The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology, is recruiting for a full-time research assistant, to participate in various activities related to patient-based research.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Under supervision and direction of a medical oncologist, to perform clinical research activities including, but not limited to:
*Online searches (medical literature from PubMed, abstracts from conference proceedings, clinical trials from databases, grant opportunities from NIH and other websites, etc.). *Collating, organizing, updating search results in Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. *Preparation (writing, editing) of clinical research/study protocol documents. *Submission and follow-up activities for regulatory approval of protocols. *Limited/no patient interaction - occasional opportunity to conduct interviews/surveys. *Data collection/verification from paper and electronic medical records. *Set up and maintenance of research databases. *Data entry into research databases. *Simple data analyses. *Manuscript preparation and submission. *Assistance with writing, editing, graphics, posters/PowerPoint slide presentations for departmental meetings/conferences. REQUIRED EDUCATION *Bachelor's Degree. *Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED *Facility with clinical research database creation, data entry, simple data analyses is ideal. *Experience with literature searches, writing, editing, preparation of manuscripts, posters, slide presentations is ideal. *Diligence, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines is ideal. *Similar research experience is ideal, but not required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT *Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
