Law Firm is Looking for Real Estate Tax Attorney
Law Firm is seeking a full-time Real Estate Tax Associate for our South Holland, IL office to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience researching and filing property tax appeals with the Cook/Collar County Assessor Offices, the Cook County Board of Review, and the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board.
This is a 100% in-office position, with business hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Starting salary for this position is $80,000 and comes with a full benefits package.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze properties, review, and draft briefs and all supporting evidence for income producing and owner-occupied properties including real estate development projects from demolition to completion for new construction, building rehabs, and Incentive based purchases.
- Understand and interpret assessment records, assessment histories and other relevant documentation common in the practice.
- Monitor and assist with all filings for tax objection cases filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County as well as court call management and document production.
- Communicate with clients, both through written and verbal means, including drafting correspondence to summarize appeal results and recommendations, requests and follow up for appropriate data, and field questions and concerns regarding pending appeals, new properties, and other various matters.
- Communicate with county representatives concerning hearings, scheduling issues, pending settlements, refunds, and other related issues.
- Maintain a docket and assist in all phases of obtaining tax incentives.
- Support Real Estate Department with various real estate tax proration issues and other miscellaneous projects.
Requirements:
- Must be licensed in Illinois and have strong writing and analytical skills.
- Must possess a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills to be able to work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all confidential information.
- Must have the ability to compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; ability to communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills; ability to balance multiple projects, work independently and have strong time management skills, as well as prioritize workload. Must have ability to reason and apply common-sense understanding to situations encountered.
- Must have the ability to process routine daily functions while being able to resolve sensitive issues and complex assignments utilizing above average critical thinking skills.
- Must be able to participate in all Continuing Legal Education trainings.
