Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, a top-ranked law firm in Washington DC, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Associate/Counsel/Partner to join our Real Estate Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience representing Borrowers, Owners, and Investors in complex commercial real estate transactions. At Kelley Drye, we have a dedicated team of over 40 practitioners in our Real Estate Practice Group, known for handling sophisticated and complex real estate transactions. Our Washington DC office is highly active, with clients pursuing transactions in the DC metropolitan area and nationally. As such, we are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and financings.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in reviewing and negotiating joint venture agreements with private equity real estate funds and investors, reviewing and negotiating loan documents on behalf of Borrowers, and representing clients in buying, selling, and financing commercial real estate. Experience in hospitality transactions, including the acquisition of branded hotels and negotiating hotel management agreements, is a plus but not required.
We are looking for someone with recent experience in a large law firm, excellent writing, organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to handle transactions autonomously and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will also have experience in mentoring and managing junior colleagues.
Kelley Drye’s Washington DC office has been recognized as one of the Washington Post’s Top Workplaces for 10 consecutive years. We offer a hybrid work policy, with Monday and Friday as work-from-home days. DC bar membership is required for this position.
Responsibilities: • Representing Borrowers, Owners, and Investors in commercial real estate transactions • Reviewing and negotiating joint venture agreements with private equity real estate funds and investors • Reviewing and negotiating loan documents on behalf of Borrowers • Buying, selling, and financing commercial real estate • Mentoring and managing junior colleagues
Requirements: • 7 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions • Extensive experience representing Borrowers, Owners, and Investors • Strong writing, organizational, and analytical skills • Ability to handle transactions autonomously and as part of a team • Recent experience in a large law firm • Experience in hospitality transactions (preferred but not required) • DC bar membership
