Main purpose of position
In this role you will focus the financial evaluation of our projects by using financial modelling and valuation skills on the back of a sound understanding of power markets and risk management. This position is key for determining the merits and risks of potential (project/portfolio) acquisitions, including projects facing merchant risk, and adding modelling expertise to the rest of the project finance team.
Main responsibilities
In this role you will focus the financial evaluation of our projects by using financial modelling and valuation skills on the back of a sound understanding of power markets and risk management. Financial valuation of new and existing renewable energy projects and portfolios as well as M&A opportunities
Analyse energy market price curves and market trends and establish energy price assumptions in support of investment decision making
Develop and maintain value-at-risk modelling, stress tests and scenario analyses; to form part of the general business case financial modelling
Develop valuation methodologies and related key financial metrics
Develop risk analyses and evaluations of existing and new products or business strategies
Support in developing commercial strategies for renewable energy in merchant energy markets, taking risk and return considerations into account
Participate in project finance processes and support lenders due diligence as well as financial modelling
Ensure that market risk exposures are fully understood, managed, and reported to relevant stakeholders
Qualifications
Bachelor/Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or similar university level education
At least 5 years’ experience from Investment, M&A or Project Finance
Previous experience in power projects is a plus
Fluent in English, both written and spoken. An additional language is beneficial
Strong analytical and quantitative skills and ability to analyse complex project and/or financing structures
Excellent financial modelling skills, including cashflow modelling
Advanced knowledge of project and/or M&A valuation methodologies
Understanding of the drivers for market settlement and electricity pricing mechanisms is a plus
Experience with structuring different capital (debt and equity) structures
Strong ability to assess market and financial risk
