ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The UCSIM | Center for Simulations & Virtual Environments Research develops world-class immersive technology applications for research, scientific collaboration, and higher education. We help researchers solve urgent real-world problems in safe virtual spaces, encourage faculty and administrators to re-imagine the university experience with virtual and augmented reality, and partner with industry to develop innovative data visualizations, training simulations, and user experiences. Our multidisciplinary approach combines subject matter expertise from the university's scientific community with UCSIM's technical expertise in augmented and virtual reality application development, computer simulations, 3D modeling, UX/UI, and instructional design to create applications that unleash the potential for scientific discovery, innovation, and new learning capabilities with immersive technologies.
JOB OVERVIEW The Office of Research, Research Technologies department is seeking a Program Manager for the Center for Simulations & Virtual Environments Research (UCSIM). This position will be responsible for managing programs and services provided to the university research community and industry partners using virtual and augmented reality, simulations, 360 VR video, and other immersive technology services to enhance and facilitate the research and academic objectives of the university. They will work with a team of creative artists, programmers, and application developers to create the best virtual experience possible within time and budget constraints.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS *Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs. Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations. *Implement policies and procedures. *Maintain budget, prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures, prepare budget requests and financial reports. *Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations. *May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials. *May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION *Bachelor's Degree. *Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE *Three (3) years of experience in program development or business administration. *May require supervision experience. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED *Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a software development team to create programs and services using simulations, games, or virtual or augmented reality applications and technologies in a higher education or research environment. *Project management experience related to software development (AGILE, JIRA) and/or virtual or augmented reality (HTC Vive/Focus, Oculus Rift/Quest/Go, Microsoft Hololens, etc.), motion capture systems, 360 video, or other related technologies. *Experience performing business needs and requirements analyses, creating project plans, timelines, and budgets, project charters, proposals, and generating financial reports for invoicing. *Grant writing experience, including researching grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies, drafting grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documents, maintaining records and submitting reports. *Marketing experience, including developing, designing, and executing marketing strategies, preparing and editing marketing communications, newsletters, brochures, and publications. *Client relationship management experience, including establishing and maintaining positive client relationships, and developing leads and new business opportunities through promotional events, demos, workshops, and conferences. *Possesses working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in software development, and contributes to overall team success through a supportive approach, and using established and well documented processes, methods, and systems.
