As a personal injury litigation paralegal, you will be responsible for drafting legal briefs, preparing documents such as affidavits, conducting legal research for trial preparation, and ensuring that case files and other essential materials are meticulously organized and easily accessible. Experience in ordering, reviewing, and summarizing medical records to prepare factual responses for discovery is essential. Additionally, you’ll assist in family settlement discussions and mediation to help resolve disputes and avoid litigation. Familiarity with case management systems, particularly SmartAdvocate, is a plus, and knowledge of the personal injury pre-litigation process is a valuable asset.
Requirements for this role include 3-5 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer, preferably in a personal injury law firm. ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies is desired, and completion of a NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants) certification program is strongly preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills, high-level organizational skills, and time-management skills are also necessary for success in this position.
