Who are we?

Sterne Kessler, Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C. is a highly regarded intellectual property specialty law firm, recognized as a "great place" to work by The Washington Post and Washington Business Journal. We have cultivated an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating, with a touch of fun and exuberance. What is the Patent Prosecution Fundamentals Training Program?

Our training program is designed for Project Assistant positions on our Prosecution Support Services team, which includes Docketing, Foreign Filing, and U.S. Patent Prosecution departments. It is an 8-weeks hands-on training program that includes classroom lectures and learning, hands-on practice, presentations from industry experts, and support from experienced mentors. The program runs in-person from May 12th to July 3rd, and we expect employees to be present for all 8 weeks with no vacation plans during the training.

Where does the program lead?

Successful candidates can look forward to a full-time job as a Prosecution Support Services Project Assistant, supporting the Docketing, Foreign Filing, and U.S. Patent Prosecution departments, with the potential to transition to a department in the future. This role is ideal for individuals with office or customer service experience who are interested in starting a career in legal support work focused on intellectual property.

What are the responsibilities after the training?

After completing the training program, some responsibilities include processing and docketing due dates for U.S. and foreign matters, preparing correspondence with clients and associates, and handling special client reporting and docket maintenance.
