What is the Patent Prosecution Fundamentals Training Program?
Our training program is designed for Project Assistant positions on our Prosecution Support Services team, which includes Docketing, Foreign Filing, and U.S. Patent Prosecution departments. It is an 8-weeks hands-on training program that includes classroom lectures and learning, hands-on practice, presentations from industry experts, and support from experienced mentors. The program runs in-person from May 12th to July 3rd, and we expect employees to be present for all 8 weeks with no vacation plans during the training.
Where does the program lead?
Successful candidates can look forward to a full-time job as a Prosecution Support Services Project Assistant, supporting the Docketing, Foreign Filing, and U.S. Patent Prosecution departments, with the potential to transition to a department in the future. This role is ideal for individuals with office or customer service experience who are interested in starting a career in legal support work focused on intellectual property.
What are the responsibilities after the training?
After completing the training program, some responsibilities include processing and docketing due dates for U.S. and foreign matters, preparing correspondence with clients and associates, and handling special client reporting and docket maintenance. The role also involves proofreading legal documents and utilizing firm tools to ensure accuracy.
What qualifications do we look for?
We seek candidates with a Bachelor's degree or high school graduate with some college study. Experience working in an office or customer service environment, strong analytical and organizational abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are also essential. The ability to receive and process constructive feedback, follow instructions, and work effectively under pressure is crucial. We also require a 3-4 year commitment to the role, with no immediate plans for law school or grad school.
What is the salary?
The base salary for this position is $52,500 annually, with full benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k) participation after a month, pre-tax Metro and parking benefits, and more.
