Responsibilities:
- Develop and advance the global patent strategy to align with business needs and protect valuable IP - Work closely with inventors and engineers to identify, evaluate, and protect patentable inventions - Provide legal advice on patentability, validity, and infringement - Collaborate with engineers and outside attorneys to review, draft, and coordinate patent applications - Conduct prior art and invalidity searches - Track patent docket and manage budget - Participate in due diligence for patent acquisitions - Review and advise on IP agreements - Continuously improve processes and workflows - Create and present trainings to business teams
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school - Admitted to practice before the USPTO and in at least one state in the United States - 5 years of experience, preferably with in-house experience - Knowledge of patent, copyright, and trade secret laws - Ability to work in a matrixed organization and spot legal and business issues - Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects - Excellent communication and networking skills - Service-oriented mindset and ability to work in cross-functional teams - Highest integrity and ability to effectively communicate legal issues to non-legal colleagues
